About Us

Birmingham Signposting Service is funded by  Birmingham City Council and run by The National Youth Advocacy Service. Signposting provides a friendly point of contact for the young people of the City, aged up to 19 (and up to age 25 in some circumstances), who require advice and information. Signposting are ready to help children and young people directly but also work with parents, carers and professionals who have questions about services available for children and young people.

Signposting has a team of trained advisors and volunteers who are ready to help with almost any question ranging from a request for leisure activities to more sensitive personal issues.

We make contact with many services across Birmingham and their details are recorded on our database. When a service is requested for a child or young person the advisor will then match the service details to their needs. Our aim is to ensure that all young people have equal access to support and activities currently available in the City. We hope to reduce truancy figures, improve health care for young people, integrate commonly excluded groups of children and have a greater involvement of young people in the design, management and delivery of services.

Our work in the community involves visiting schools and other organisations across the City, presenting to school assemblies, parents' evenings, youth forums and other professional organisations. The Signposting Service is open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday to Friday and 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday. Contact can be made via:
